PLONING : Out in Oscars

The year of the Ox welcomed with closed doors the Philippine indie film movie Ploning, the official entry of the country in this year's Oscars Best Foreign Movie, after not being chosen to be one of the 9 foreign movies, to win the title. According to the news which has spread like a virus, Ploning was not included in the most favorite films in this year's Oscars.

That is definitely a sad new for everyone especially to those people behind this film. We've seen Judy Ann Santos with his boyfriend Ryan Agoncillo doing together a lot of campaign for her best film. She even went to GMA7 to promote her film and produced a book based on the film Ploning which is now i think in stores nationwide. Many people gave their supports morally and financially to Judy Ann for the film.

I made a review of this film for our Filipino subject and I really hated the result. I don't give a damn to them.

The 65 board of jurors of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science have voted and here are the top 9 foreign films for Oscar's Best Foreign Film 2009 :

3 Monkeys (Turkey) - Directed by Nuri Bilge

Everlasting Moments (Sweden) - Directed by Jan Troell

Waltz With
Bashir (Israel) - Directed by Uli Edel

The Class (Fr
ance) - Directed by Laurent Cantet

Tear This Heart Out (Mexico) - Directed by Roberto Sneider

Revanche (Austria) - Directed by Gotz Spiellman

The Necessities Of Life (Canada) - Directed by Benoit Pilon

Departures (Ja
pan) - Directed by Yojiro Takita

The Baader M
einhof Complex (Germany) - Directed by Ari Folman

I hope there would be a dvd release of these films so I can watch them. Or I must say, I prefer watching it in wide screen with appreciative friends.
